My practice specialty is the treatment of stress and trauma and I have learned that when you mention PTSD people instantly think of the soldier reacting to combat. It is difficult to explain that trauma comes not just on the battlefield but can occur with everyday people put in very traumatic or stressful situations.

And then I ran into this video where the young woman puts a very human face to the symptoms. She does an excellent job of explaining the overt response to seemingly simple things that we may not be aware are triggers for the alert reaction. She also provides hope that once she sought treatment and understood why this occurred that there is a road to recovery.
