Today begins a series I call “The Great Exchange”. I use that term because in every encounter there is an exchange of energy be it emotional energy, mental energy, or even monetary energy but something passes from one to the other. What I hope to focus on in this series is how to harness that energy to make certain you have developed a pattern of energy transmission to ultimately keep energy flowing toward you and not away from you.

I only ask that if any part of this series has particular meaning for you that you share it with at least one person to begin the flow that will come back to you.

Are you ready to pass the recession test
A wonderful teacher of mine often used a phrase that has stayed with me over many long years: “Anything you say you believe… the world will test you!”

We all want certain things and in a good number of cases actually deserve to have them but deserving and having are worlds apart. Worlds apart because: Anything you say you want or believe… the world will test you. By test I mean it will determine your level of desire to accomplish whatever it is you say you believe for your life.

Spiritual World versus Real World

The point is, that there is a spiritual world (some call it the Universe or even ether) and a real world and our faith, focus, and actions are what move a thought from one to the other. Keep in mind that the spiritual world has the power to override the real world, but the moving itself is not an automatic task; we have to affirm and reaffirm what it is we want to occur. The Bible speaks of it as: “Whosoever shall believe that those things that he says…”

Sort of like getting on an elevator, do you walk through the open door and simply stand there waiting to be taken to a particular floor? No. You have to press the button and tell the elevator where you want to go. Because we don’t see all the mechanizations that are going on behind the scenes we tend to think of it as automatic, but getting that elevator moving is an abstract example of changing thought energy into action. For example, when we press that button it sets off an electric current that transforms our desire into electronic impulses that set off a series of cables or hydraulics to lift or lower the car. We don’t see all this happening and so we never think of it in terms of the inertia (the tendency of a body at rest to remain at rest) or overcoming resistance to the point of being able to move that elevator.

Overcoming Resistance

In that same spirit, success in our lives is based on our ability to create the transfer of our thoughts into energy that pulls them from the spiritual (the electrical pulses if you will) into the real world (the actual movement of the elevator). Where the challenge will come is in the form of that natural resistance to test how committed we are to a particular belief that will create the necessary movement and hence “Anything you say you believe… the world will test you.” So if things are not going your way right now, view it as a time of testing of what you really believe and resolve to keep believing until you have pulled your thoughts into the real.

Don’t believe me, listen someone who was hardly a great thinker but a man of steadfast belief in his ability to make that transfer:

“Our brains become magnetized with the dominating thought which we hold in our minds,
and by means which no man is familiar these magnets attract to us the forces, the people,
and the circumstances of life which harmonize with the nature of our dominating thoughts.”
