Chi Dela Resma is a classic example of having an idea, starting out, and then making changes along the way. If you don’t know Chi from her previous visits she is a foodie who was so uninterested in cooking that one day she almost set the family home on fire. It took awhile but a love of creating food gradually developed and created the Foodie Entrepreneur.

In this episode Chi provides a check list of important considerations as you start your own cooking journey:

A love of food
I know it sounds simple but there is a need to be adventurous in being a foodie blogger. The adventure part starts with being willing to expand your palate to look for food that excites you. This is where the love of food comes in, because food blogging is more than just showing food.

A particular focus for your cooking
Chi in this area decided to focus on Asian cooking as an area that is familiar to her but also offers lots of variety in that there are differences in Korean, Japanese, and Filipino cooking that offers a sameness to Asian cooking and yet is built around almost endless variety. A theme is the glue that will hold your posts together as you start blogging.

A camera and software
You will hear Chi say that the camera becomes your best friend in starting your blog, and it is as the tool that will help you present your offerings. Our discussion provides options from high end to basic to get you up and running. The same goes for software to help you develop a presentation style that suits the food you’re working with.

The platform that works for your website
A website becomes vitally important because this is where your audience will expect to see your dishes. Different platforms work for different goals or purposes. So a little research before you commit yourself is almost as important as what you plan to present.

Time management
Chi makes a great point during our chat that while working a full time job she struggles with carving out time for a food blog. It’s not easy. this part of our chat illustrates some of the unexpected challenges for what can seem very simple starting out. Life happens and you WILL have to find a way to feed the blog beast while juggling a million other things. It comes with the territory.

It was great to have the Foodie Entrepreneur back for one of our most enjoyable chats. She returns a lot more seasoned and wiser in the tools and equipment along with motivation that anyone interested in food blogging, or just being a blogger should hear.
